  • 'Rope-hung lighting and reclaimed pieces of furniture maintain Folk’s established style.'

  • Aug 21, 2011 | Text by Lorna Gibson

  • Rope-hung lighting and reclaimed pieces of furniture maintain Folk’s established style.

The design of the fourth London, Folk Clothing store (a fifth being in Munich) follows a similar theme to its predecessors, but enjoys a new village atmosphere and community feel.

The 74.5 meter squared store in Shepherd Market is nestled right in the heart of Mayfair, between Curzon Street and Piccadilly, and is to stock Folk’s full men’s range, as well as shoes for both men and women.

Similar elements to the existing stores are echoed with the use of wood cladding, marble heads from sculptor Paul Vanstone and rope-hung lighting. The white walls, floor and ceiling, as well as the streamlined interior, however, differentiate the store from its raw, edgier counterparts.

The current collection also emulates a more-relaxed, ‘weekend in the countryside’ feel, with sand shoes, stripes and playful casual wear.

How did you spend you Friday night? Tesla founder and CEO Elon Musk spent his answering questions about paying back the government and musing about the next kind of electric vehicle he might like to make.

After posting a number of tweets about his thoughts on proper taxation and how he did (PayPal and Zip2) and didn't make his fortune, Musk appeared to drop in something of a non sequitur:

Would love to do a pickup truck. Something w ultra low cg for sports car handling, dynamic air suspension & mega torque.

    — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) May 25, 2013

While building an electric truck would be new for Tesla, it's not a new idea for the world of automobiles. There are already electric truck companies like Smith Electric and Zap World. Read more...

  • Video Captures Scary Washington Bridge Collapse

More proof that the cameras are everywhere. The frightening collapse of a bridge in Washington State on the busy Interstate 5 was actually caught by a surveillance camera.

A huge portion of the bridge fell into the Skagit River on Thursday night after an over-sized freight truck struck part of the structure. The grainy video, obtained by AP, actually shows a large white truck moving through the bridge moments before a large section carrying two vehicles plunged into the river below. Miraculously, the passengers of all those vehicles escaped with only minor injuries.

According to an AP report, the truck driver noticed he hit something and had time to look in his rear view mirror and see the bridge collapse. It could be months before the bridge is repaired and travel in that part of Washington State is returned to normal. Read more...
